About the Lecture

This lecture will focus on the issues of race, class and gender in American politics by looking at the historical context of these issues; this historical context will then be used to facilitate understanding of these issues in the 2016 Presidential election.

About the Speakers

Jeannette Cockroft is an associate professor of history and political science at Schreiner University, Texas, USA. She arrived in her present position by way of pre-law major and passionate interest in Chinese language and culture. She completed her Master’s in Political Science in the University of Kansas, and received her doctorate in history from Texas A&M. Among her recent publications are a journal article“The Transformative Power of Work: the Early Life of Margaret Chase Smith” and a book reviews on gendered Politics.
